Title 1 Program
According to the U.S. Department of Education, the purpose of Title 1 funding, “is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.”
Since 2017 under the Every Student Succeeds Act, private school students and teachers have been eligible to participate in certain federal education programs. A DOE program specialist ensures equitable services are provided to private school children, teachers, and other education personnel.
Teachers recommend students who are in need of additional reading and/or math assistance during the school year. Eligible private school students must reside in a participating public school attendance area. Parental permission for students must be on file before participation in the Title I program.
